A LONGSTANDING Halstead club has welcomed new members to its fold.

Halstead Rotary Club, which started 75 years ago, has seen three new members join.

Mark, Claire, and Bill have now joined the club.

The club and many of its counterparts across the UK, aim to bring together people who wish to create lasting change in the world, in their communities, and in themselves.

It offers members the chance to socialise with other Halstead residents whilst engaging in local community-led projects.

Club president Keith Brownlie said: “Rotary is a fantastic way for people to enjoy a sense of belonging, to make friends have fun and to be involved in worthwhile community projects.”

Over the past year, Halstead Rotary Club has supported many environmental initiatives, and been involved with the Wilderness Foundation in Chelmsford and the Yarra Farm project in Colchester.

The Halstead organisation has also supported Essex Aid in delivering humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

In November last year, the club teamed-up with the Co-op store in Weavers’ Court to collect used winter coats and redistribute them.

In December 2023, the group worked alongside St Margaret’s Preparatory School, in Gosfield, to provide shoeboxes containing toys, educational items, household goods, and more.

The boxes were distributed to orphanages, hospitals, disabled children and families in need in eastern Europe.
