HALSTEAD Road Runners' Adam Buckle made it two successive weekends of competition over the 13.1-mile half-marathon distance as he completed the Bristol Half-Marathon.

Having started strongly, Buckle was well on track for a personal best with less than three miles to go, however, it wasn't to be and he finished an agonising few minutes shy of his best time in one hour 57 minutes 24 seconds.

Meanwhile, Juan De Gea and Andy Owen opted for the Berlin Marathon.

It is a notoriously fast route both and the Halstead duo finished within just over seven minutes of each other, with De Gea claiming club bragging rights on this occasion with a finish in 3h 20m 21s and Owen in 3h 27m 24s.

Also jetting off were Halstead chairman Paul Hinsley, Hazel Buist and Rosie Atkins, who raced at the Loch Ness Marathon.

Recent injury prevented Buist from running to anywhere near her previous best, however she and Atkins finished in a very respectable time of 4h 56m 31s, while Hinsley stormed around the route, finishing within the top ten in his age group category in 3h 28m 52s.

Marathon regulars Andy Wilmot and Dan Smith raced in the Midnight Phoenix Marathon at Walton-on-Thames, with Smith finishing in 4h 23m 16s and Wilmot in 4h 30m 43s.
