An age-old community club has vowed not to give up on plans for a £26,000 revamp.

THE countdown to the annual Halstead Fun Run has begun. The event, which will be held on July 7 at 10.30am, sets off from Halstead Leisure Centre and includes a hog roast, stalls and Maypole dancing. Last year’s event was a huge success with more than double the number of entrants than the previous year. In 2011 the event was brought forward from September to July in a bid to increase its popularity. There is free entry for the toddler and under five, a £2 entry fee to the 1k junior race for six to 10-year-olds the and 2k race, for 11 to 15-year-olds. There is a £6 fee, or £8 on the day, for the adult 5k race. The entry form can be downloaded at halsteadtowncouncil.co.uk or collected from the council offices in Mill House in The Causeway.
