HALSTEAD Road Runners' Andy Wilmot defended his age group category crown in the Kent Road Runner Marathon.

The popular 20-lap event, held at Gravesends Cyclopark, attracts a large field of athletes and Wilmot claimed the Vet 70 crown for the second year running after a close battle which saw him pip the second-placed athlete by seven minutes over the 26.2 mile course.

Wilmot finished in four hours eight minutes.

Rosie Atkins placed tenth overall in the senior female field, finishing with Wilmot in 4h 8m, while Dan Smith followed in 4h 20m.

Bob Langley ventured to Scotland to partake in the Edinburgh Marathon and his great form continued as he claimed second place in the Vet 60 category with a time of 3h 17m.

Flying the Halstead Road Runners flag furthest this week, though, was Andy Owens, who completed the Curl Curl 5k Park Run in New South Wales, Australia.
