Jim Patey and Roy Whittaker triumphed as the Essex Golf and Country Club’s seniors played their annual Greensomes competition.
Patey and Roy Whittaker returned a nett 65 from their respective 16 and 28 handicaps to edge Colin Broadhurst (14) and Michael Francis (27) into second place with their nett 65.5.
Nearest the pin on the par three 14th hole was Keith Harris.
Meanwhile, the club held its annual awards evening, with the three captains David Reading (club captain), Christine Curtis (ladies’ captain) and Norman Stechman (seniors’ captain) presenting a cheque for £6,198 to this year’s chosen charity, Emmaus.
