Halstead Boxing Club schoolboy Frasier Hughes put on another very good performance in a skills bout against Matt King of Billericay ABC at their Open Boxing show.

Both these young fighters were very fit and eager and began by landing some eye-catching punches at the start of round one, with Hughes landing the cleaner and better punches.

Both started well in the second round, with the taller Hughes showing good footwork and movement as he used his fast hands and better technical skills to keep his more rugged and shorter opponent on the back foot.

Hughes came out and posted a good final round, showing a more aggressive approach and knitting together some slick counter-punching as King came forward with his all-action style.

Both young youngsters showed good ability and remarkable talent for the future in their chosen sport.

Halstead coaches Caroline Searles and George Cook were in Hughes’ corner.
