Imogen Newby played her part in bringing home a one-two for the Braintree Bowmen from the Southern Counties Junior FITA Championships in Colchester.
The 11-year-old from Halstead was fresh from a double silver at the national championships the previous weekend, but her path to glory wasn’t smooth on this occasion.
A serious problem with the arrow rest arm on her bow meant Newby faced an uphill battle as her sight marks were badly affected.
She was unable to record the scores she knew she was capable of, but ended the Metric V round with a score of 1,340 for the gold medal.
The Halstead youngster was joined on the podium by her Braintree Bowmen team-mate, Sydney Strugnell, who also overcame a problem with setting her sights to claim the silver medal with a score of 1,292.
