The remarkable marathon running of Andy Wilmot continued as the Halstead Road Runners member increased his tally of completed races over the 26.2-mile distance to more than 650.
The 70-year-old (pictured) passed the milestone in incredible fashion as he finished the Great Barrow Challenge of running ten marathons in ten days.
It was the second year that Wilmot had successfully completed the ultra tough challenge.
Conditions were even more testing this year due to the hot weather, however, that didn’t deter the Halstead long-distance star, who ran consistently day after day.
His quickest time came on the third of the ten days as he finished the marathon distance in four hours 35 minutes 52 seconds and only edged over the five-hour mark on two days.
RESULTS: Day 1: 4h 51m 34s; Day 2: 4h 40m 28s; Day 3: 4h 35m 52s; Day 4: 4h 38m 35s; Day 5: 5h 1m 30s; Day 6: 4h 37m 8s; Day 7: 5h 1m 12s; Day 8: 4h 42m 7s; Day 9: 4h 50m 25s; Day 10: 4h 44m 41s.
