Oliver Swallow proved he is on his way back to top form as he collected the male under-20 and overall sprint titles at the Gosfield Triathlon.
After a layoff from training due to A-Level studying commitments this year, Swallow had only returned to triathlon work two weeks before this event, so was delighted to be back on the podium after such a short time.
The Gosfield event is organised by the Braintree-based Born2Tri Club and featured both standard and sprint distances.
Swallow had opted to compete in the sprint and from the start of the 750 metre swim, he quickly established a strong position and exited the water in second place.
After an excellent first transition, he went on to the 20 kilometre bike ride where he went straight into the lead.
Despite increasingly heavy rain, it was a position Swallow retained through transition two and on to the 5km run and he cross the finish line in one hour five minutes 29 seconds, which was almost a whole minute clear of the second-placed competitor.
