Halstead Amateur Boxing Club junior Zak Lawson produced an impressive display against Kenzie Cole of Gator ABC London on Romford’s Open Show.
Lawson started off confidently, working well when in range and being elusive out of range as he edged the first round.
Going into the second, he continued his stylish boxing, keeping clean and slick shots firing to his opponent’s head and body and picking up points.
Lawson picked it up more in the third and final round which proved to be a tough encounter as both boxers put in a grandstand finish.
After the bell, Lawson was awarded a close points decision as his superior fitness proved to be the key factor in this well-deserved victory.
Halstead schoolboy boxer, William Cheffins had his first skills bout and looked impressive in contesting a lively three rounds against the hosts’ Jacob Kelly on Harwich’s Open Show.
Both boys were evenly matched and showed a good variation of punches.
It was Cheffins who, after a decent first round, was constantly on top, though, as he caught his oncoming opponent with sharp left jabs and right crosses.
Both boxers acquitted themselves well in the final round with some excellent skills.
