The seniors at the Essex Golf and Country Club enjoyed success as they played their first friendly match of the year against Gosfield at home.
On a dry but chilly breezy morning, 32 players, playing better-ball in teams of two, battled it out for the honours.
After 18 hard-fought holes played in a very good natured manner, the result was very close with the hosts winning 4½-3½.
Nearest the pin on the par three 130-yard fifth hole was Ernst Middl for the Essex and Mike Stanley for Gosfield.
