Halstead Cricket Club will be sprucing up their Star Stile ground as preparations for the 2015 season get under way in earnest.
Running on Friday March 27, Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29, the club will be participating in the NatWest CricketForce scheme and they would welcome any volunteers who may be able to help out.
CricketForce, which is also supported by Jewsons Builders’ Merchants, is designed to get members and friends to meet at their grounds over a weekend to carry out essential refurbishment and maintenance tasks.
Halstead is one of 1,200 across the county involved in the ECB-backed initiative this year.
It will give Halstead members a great chance to support the regular gound work done at Star Stile by among others Brian Firmin, Trevor Cooper, David Stock, Gary Smith and David Hume.
The list of tasks needed to be completed in the three-day period at Star Stile includes cleaning down sightscreens using power washer and then repainting the metal frames, rubbing down the scoreboard and repainting it, painting the entrance gate, painting storage containers and re-decorating all changing rooms and the umpires’ room.
Anyone who may be available to help can contact Trevor Cooper by email at starstile@supanet.com
