Halstead Town midfielder Nick Miller feels they can still be a part of the Thurlow Nunn League division one promotion race.

The Humbugs head to Braintree Town Reserves tomorrow still buoyed by a superb performance that held second-placed Saffron Walden to a 2-2 draw at Rosemary Lane last weekend.

It kept them just six points off third spot and was the type of display that will be needed again if they are to have any hope of going up this year.

However, Miller (pictured below) – one of only three players in the starting line-up on Saturday who was at the club last year – feels their result against Saffron Walden has kept them as one of five or six sides who still have aspirations of claiming a top-three finish.

He said: “Last season we were up at the top of the league all the way through and just missed out at the end so people know we are a side who should be challenging.

“We’re not a million miles off third spot now and a few wins will put us right back in the mix.

“If we can put a run together then I think we can be up there again."
