Juan De Gea led the 25 yellow-vested Halstead Road Runners members home at the Stebbing Remembrance Day ten-mile road race.
This popular event attracted a field of 450 athletes who took part in a church service at Stebbing War Memorial with an impeccably-observed minute’s silence prior to the start.
The tough hilly course is a real test, but De Gea stormed round in a personal best (PB) time one hour six minutes 45 seconds.
Wes Atkins also put in a fine performance, finishing in 1h 15m 32s to take a huge chunk of time from his previous best as a total of 11 new PBs were recorded by Halstead athletes.
