Jordan Palmer said he had no hesitation in nailing his colours to Halstead Town’s mast when he learned of an approach from one of their Thurlow Nunn League division one rivals.
The 21-year-old striker, who is from Halstead and has made more than 250 first-team appearances, admits it has been a frustrating season, but spent little time in turning down a seven-day approach from Saffron Walden Town.
He said: “I’ve always been at Halstead since the age of about ten and even before the seven-day approach came in I never thought about leaving.
“Maybe it’s something you’d think about if a team from a higher level came in, but I think we’re a better side than Saffron Walden.”
Halstead are due to face AFC Sudbury Reserves in the league at Rosemary Lane today (kick-off 3pm).
