Colne set sights on successful new year

EARLS Colne get back in action tomorrow – hungry to carry on where they left off in 2012.

Robin Bragg’s side were in explosive form prior to the Christmas break.

They won six and drew two of their ten Kent Blaxill Essex and Suffolk Border League premier division fixtures.

And they will be keen to keep their good form going in tomorrow’s home match against neighbours Hedinghams United (kick-off 2pm).

“After making a poor start to the season, we’ve turned things round,” said Bragg, who led the team to promotion last season and previously spent ten years in charge of Halstead Town Reserves.

“Even when things weren’t going well, we stayed positive and didn’t throw in the towel.

“We stuck together, rolled our sleeves up and have been rewarded in our results since the start of October.

“Standards and expectations have risen since and the boys are really disappointed when they drop points.

“There’s a real will to win.

“When we were struggling at the start of the season I said it would be an achievement to finish in the top eight.

“That’s still our aim and anything higher than eighth will be a bonus.”
