LEIGH-ON-SEA captain Dean Waller says everyone at the club is desperate to chalk up a first win of the season against Hutton tomorrow.

Waller, who hit an impressive unbeaten century off just 43 balls in the draw at Harlow Town last week, takes his team to Hutton tomorrow, who have lost their first two games of the Division Two season and have not got a point on the board as of yet.

And he says the group goes there in good spirits.

“We would like to think we can win it,” he said. “It was a good deck at Harlow but they were going for it and looked as though they could win it at one stage. We batted fairly well and we had the licence to hit and give it a go.

“Jonny Edwards’ was a good knock and I was pleased to just club it and hit a good score.

“We have a good chance to get but we need to turn up. We need to make our aspects of the game come together and if we do that we can win.”

Old Southendian & Southchurch visit Oakfield Parkonians as they look to build on a solid start to the season which has seen them pick up a draw and a win in their first two matches.

Aaron Lucas’ men sit third but play the side just two points behind them in the standings after a competitive start to the season.

The Old Boys won their final match on the last ball of the game against Hainault & Clayhall, with Lucas admitting spirits were drastically raised by the manner of the dramatic victory.

Wickford head to Harlow Town with both sides still searching for their first victory of the season.

Sixth-placed Wickford are already 13 points behind the team above them and Chirag Desai’s men will be keen to use last weekend’s draw with Gidea Park & Romford to spur them onto new heights.

Horndon-on-the-Hill and Belhus occupy the top two spots at the moment, with both looking to add to their points tally tomorrow.

Horndon visit Gidea Park & Romford after a comfortable win last time out, with victory enough to take them over the 50 point mark.

Belhus have already hit 50 points after a perfect start to the season. And their trip to winless Hainault & Clayhall is another they may be expected to win.
