Braintree Town’s trip to Cheltenham epitomised the hard-working ethic of the club’s players as they battled against adversity and there was a memorable milestone for one member of the squad in particular.
The 68th minute substitution of Michael Cheek saw Sean Marks emerge for his 300th appearance in a Braintree shirt in a career that has spanned eight seasons at the club.
It was no ceremonial run-out for the long-serving stalwart either as he was quickly into the action and made the assist with a clever back-heel for Anthony Edgar to put them ahead in the 90th minute.
The fact that the Robins came back to snatch a last-gasp equaliser should take nothing away from Marks’ memorable appearance.
Braintree boss Danny Cowley said: “Three hundred games – what a milestone that is.
“I think Sean epitomises everything that is good about Braintree Town Football Club.
“He is fantastic for the club both on and off the pitch and he is an absolute credit.
“Sean’s a great member of the changing room and the effect he has on the younger members of the squad is immense.”
