Braintree Town manager Alan Devonshire expects Ryan Peters to be missing for tomorrow’s Vanarama Conference Premier visit of Eastleigh.

The Iron will be looking to make it three straight league wins after successes against Torquay United before Christmas and at Dartford on Boxing Day and four consecutive victories in all competitions.

Their defence has been particularly solid in that run, with no goals conceded during the previous three outings, however, Devonshire is likely to have to make a change for Eastleigh’s visit (kick-off 3pm).

He said: “Ryan (Peters) came off (at Dartford) because he pulled a thigh muscle, which is unusual, so he’ll definitely be out for Sunday.

“We’ll see how we go with it.

“Kenny (Davis) could be on the bench or may even start.

“I’ll have to have a chat with him, but Jordan (Cox) is still a way off.

“He got cramp in training last week so only had 15 minutes at Dartford, but I’m hoping that by next week, these players will be fully back fit and we can go from there.”

Devonshire said he expected Mitch Brundle to slot into the right-back berth vacated by Peters and admits he may be tempted to give one or two others a rest as the hectic festive period goes on.

He added: “The back four are playing well at the moment.

“Ryan (Peters) had to come off at Dartford, but he’s been part of it and has been playing well.

“Nick (Hamann) in there as well and Mitch (Brundle) will get his opportunity now for the next few games.

“Painey (Matt Paine) and Chez (Isaac) have done well the last few but I may have to leave one of them out on Sunday because it’s just too much to have two games in 48 hours.

“The amount of work they had to do in there at Dartford and to ask them to do the same against Eastleigh is tough.

“Kenny may come back in there, but we’ll see.”
