HALSTEAD Templars Rugby Club recently held their annual meeting, with the club looking to expand after enjoying it's most successful-ever season last year.

A presentation was made to outgoing chairman Andy Smith for his sterling work for the club, having been ever-present on the committee since the club’s formation.

The existing committee were voted in with no-one opposing, while the new chairman is local businessman and Templars main sponsor Garry Costen, who was voted in with a large majority and immediately oversaw some lively debate about the future direction of the club.

It was agreed that the club should hold a recruitment drive with the aim of running a second XV.

The new committee was also asked to investigate the possibility of finding new premises for the club.

It was pointed out that, if the club wishes to go forward more help would be needed so, to that end, club secretary Toni Arundell was made club volunteer co-ordinator to help get the right people in the right jobs.

Anyone wishing to volunteer to help Halstead Templars or come and play for the club should contact Arundell on toniarundell@gmail.com for volunteers and head coach Neil Prentice on mistertank1st@btinternet.com for those wishing to play.
