A GROUP of four swimmers from Halstead Swimming Club travelled to Norwich to compete in the East Region Youth Championships and secured the best results the club has had at this level..

They were up against swimmers aged 15 and over from Essex, Suffolk, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.

Katherine Daynes made the finals in all three breaststroke distances in the 16 year age group, finishing fifth in the 50m event, eighth in the 100m event and seventh in the 200m event.

Jodie Root finished 17th in the 17 years and over 50m breaststroke and 23rd in the 100m breaststroke and Ole Mills finished 18th in the 17 years and over 100 breaststroke and 15th in the 200 breaststroke.

Sam Johnson, Halstead's boys' senior captain, finished 26th in the 17 years and over 50 breaststroke.

Head Coach Roger Duncombe was proud of his swimmers for making it to the regional competition and the outstanding achievement of Daynes in making three finals.
