THE Great Bentley Half Marathon is a popular race as the flat course offers excellent conditions for those hoping for a personal best and this year’s was no exception for Halstead Road Runners.

Rosie Atkins, Jonathan Buist, Tom Porter and Heidi Worf all improved on previous best times, while Wesley Atkins and Leigh-Anne Porter raced the distance for the first time.

Caroliena Cameron completed her first half marathon in many years and was thrilled to cross the line with club-mates Atkins and Kathryn Bronson.

The fourth running of the Braintree Boggle Trail Marathon was held on a muddy route through the villages around the town.

Sarah Frost, fast gaining a reputation as a keen off-road runner, improved on her previous running of this race by 25 minutes, while Andy Wilmot and Dan Smith added to their impressive tally of marathons.

Wilmot finished in five hours 15 minutes, with John Warne running 5h 22m, Frost 5h 36m and Smith 6h 10m.
