HALSTEAD Road Runners took their racing off road as they headed to the Essex Veterans Cross Country Championships took place on Saturday 26 November in the grounds of Writtle College.
Bob Langley finished 37th overall in the men’s race for those aged 50 and over and claimed second place in the V60 age category to secure a coveted Essex silver medal.
Mike Grealy also represented the men, with Wendy Carter, Lorraine Garnham and Julia Woolnough representing Halstead's women.
Meanwhile, at the Festive Forest Challenge near Bury St Edmunds, Treena Harrington finished 19th overall and fifth lady in the ten kilometre event as she finished in 58 seconds over the one-hour mark.
John Warne opted for the 20-mile option through the Kings Forest and finished in 3h 25m 5s.
Stewart Ellis travelled to Hertfordshire for the multi-terrain Bass Belle ten-miler.
He finished in 63m 8s to secure a top-20 finish out of a field of 500 runners.
