Dean Wells has said his inclusion in the Conference Premier Team of the Year is an accolade for the whole of Braintree Town’s defensive unit.
The Iron centre-half found out that he had been named in the prestigious line-up, which is voted for by all the Conference clubs’ managers, while on holiday in America and admitted that he had been bowled over to see his name in it.
Wells made 44 appearances and scored three goals at the heart of Braintree’s back line last year in a memorable campaign that saw them finish sixth and with the third-best defensive record in the league.
But while the Team-of-the-Year place was a personal accolade, the 29-year-old fans’ favourite was quick to pay tribute to his Braintree team-mates as well.
