Fire crews have had to rescue a driver from Buttsbury Wash after he drove into two feet of water.

One crew attended just after 4pm and released the van driver after about half an hour.

The fire service has released this advice: "When confronted with any amount of water more than half the height of your car wheels, you should always stop and find an alternative route.

"Just a couple of feet of water is enough to float a car - meaning stalling, a loss of control and mechanical damage to the vehicle.

"Driving in water just isn't worth it - not only are you risking your own life, you'll also require the help of fire crews and rescue teams who could be needed elsewhere."
