34 people have been arrested in the first 10 days of the Christmas anti-drink and drug driving campaign.
Since the campaign started on Friday, December 1, 25 people have been arrested on suspicion of drink driving offences and nine on suspicion of drug driving offences.
Adam Pipe, Casualty Reduction Manager, said: “Drink and drug driving ruins lives and I find it galling people still think it’s ok to do it.
“The reality is if you drinking or taking drugs has a huge impact on your ability to drive and you could end up killing yourself or someone else.
“We don’t want anyone to find out how it feels to get a knock on the door from one of our officers to say a loved one isn’t coming home.
“If you get caught drink or drug driving during our campaign and your convicted, we will issue your name and picture.”
If you have any information about a drink or drug driver please contact us on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
