A good samaritan came out to help an ambulance that was stuck outside his home.

The ambulance on blue lights was heading for Lower Road, Hullbridge, today at around 11.30am. The ambulance struggled up the hill leading to the road due to the thick snow.

Colleen Palmer, 33, Hullbridge, said they saw the ambulance outside their home. She said: “Despite neighbours’ efforts to try and push the vehicle it was completely stuck.

“My husband Daniel owns a unimog so he rushed out to assist. It just took a few short minutes with the help of neighbours to attach a tow rope to both vehicles to pull the ambulance up the hill.

“After this Daniel attached his snow plough and cleared Lower Road to assist drivers who have been able to drive up and down with no issue since.

"The road was completely covered in snow."
