A MAN has been left with a head and leg injuries after he tried to break up an altercation involving a group of youths.
The victim, a man in his 50s, was attacked by four youths after he tried to break up the dispute at around 11.30pm on Saturday January 14, in Rectory Road, in Rochford.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the assault in Rochford.
A spokesman said: "The victim, a man in his 50s, went to break up an altercation involving a large group of youths in Rectory Road at around 11.30pm on Saturday, January 14.
"Around four of the youths then attacked the victim, knocking him to the floor and leaving him with injuries to his head and leg.
"Anyone who has any information regarding the incident is asked to contact Pc Andy Pattle at Rayleigh Police Station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
