TONIGHT is the opening concert of the Southend Council Concert Series, and chamber music lovers will not want to miss this performance by the Locrian Piano Trio, performing music by Haydn, Brahms, Schubert, Liszt, Bizet and more.

These three professional musicians perform widely across the UK and overseas as soloists. The concert takes place at the Plaza Centre, Southchurch Road, Southend, starting at 8pm.

Tomorrow night offers a wide choice of performances across South East Essex.

The Kirckman Ensemble can be heard at Chingford Parish Church at 7.30pm, while in Chelmsford Cathedral, Caprice Wind Orchestra has a concert.

Eastwood Chorale will be performing Haydn’s Creation at Westcliff High School for Boys at 7.45pm, and the Southend Girls’ Choir will be performing a concert entitled Autumn Leaves at St James the Less Church, Hadleigh, at 7.30pm.

The Meljon Singers have a concert featuring music by composers John Rutter and Bob Chilcott, at St John’s Church, Epping, at 7.30pm.

On Wednesday, concert pianist Niel du Preez will be performing a 45-minute free lunchtime recital at the Civic Centre, Southend. The concert starts at 12.15pm.
