SUPERSTAR rappper Snoop Dogg liked Southend so much he will return next month – and this time he will rap.

The Echo revealed the Californian rap star was keen for a return to Talk Nightclub, Southend, after performing there last month.

The Lucy Road club has now confirmed he will return to DJ – and rap – on Saturday, July 18, after performing at London festival Lovebox.

Club manager Tom Gowans said: “He will do a live DJ set as DJ Snoopadelic and rap from the DJ box.

“He spoke to his agent and because he is finishing his headline act at Lovebox early, he was interested in doing a DJ gig afterwards.

“He asked if he could come back to Southend because he really liked the crowd and said the atmosphere was really good.”

The star, who finishes his set in East London at 11pm, will DJ from 1am to 3am in Southend.

Snoop, real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr, reportedly said Talk Nightclub had the best atmosphere on his eight-day global tour, which included Las Vegas and Detroit.

Mr Gowans said Snoop was only the first of several big names to appear at the club, as it helps revitalise Southend’s vital night time economy.

He said: “We are over the moon. We are extremely happy.

“Myself and my promotions manager have been working very hard to turn the club around and put Southend on the map.

“We want to make Southend a ‘destination venue’ and make the club the hottest spot in Southend.

“There hasn’t been any quality entertainment here for a while.

"None of the other venues seem to be doing anything.”

British hip hop DJs Tim Westwood and Charlie Sloth are among the acts confirmed over the coming weeks.
