A woman has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life after a blaze left two Braintree homes in ruins.
Six fire crews attended the scene in Rosemary Avenue yesterday from 6.21pm.
A section of the road was closed as they battled the inferno, which had spread from one house to the adjoining home.
Crowds of neighbours stood out in the street to watch the fire crews hard at work.
An Essex Police spokesman said: “We have arrested a 43-year-old woman on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life following a fire inside a property in Rosemary Avenue, Braintree.
“The woman remains in custody.”
