A MAN died after he was subjected to a "brutal and sustained attack" in a Clacton street in the early hours of New Year's Day.

A murder trial jury heard Oliver Smith-Daye died from his injuries after he was attacked with a golf club, punched and stamped on.

Neighbours in Trimley Close were woken up by the incident.
