A BID to bring the iconic poppy display which attracted thousands of people to the Tower of London to Colchester Castle has been unsuccessful.

Colchester Council was one of many organisations across the country which applied to WWI Centenary Art Commissions, but was not selected.

The display will instead go to Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Woodhorn Museum in Northumberland and St George’s Hall, Liverpool.

These locations were chosen because of their connections to the First World War.
