A MINIBUS service is celebrating 40 years on the road.
Frinton and Walton Community Minibus has racked up 750,000 miles over four decades and travelled the equivalent of 30 times around the world.
The bus is hired by groups for trips, and takes elderly and disabled people to the shops.
Chairman Harry Francis said: “For all these years it has been run by a few dedicated people who have given up their time freely, as do all the volunteer drivers.
“To all committee members and drivers past and present, and also to the fundraising individuals and sponsors, I would like to say a huge thank-you.
“We have been very fortunate to be able to renew and keep our minibus in as good condition as possible, with a newish bus every few years. Thank you also to the clubs and the societies who book and use our bus.”
The current vehicle was bought last November and is named Muriel after the late mother of sponsor and committee member David Thornton. Other sponsors include Frinton Rotary Club and the East of England Co-op.
The community minibus AGM is on July 29 at the Walton Forum office in High Street at 7.30pm.
