A SUMMER picnic concert is set to raise funds for a community owned pub.

St Margaret’s Church, Toppesfield, will host Amici Cantate on Saturday evening, who are returning to the area after receiving a wonderful welcome in 2014.

The community in Toppesfield pooled more than £150,000 to help buy The Green Man.

And with 150 owners from across the vilage and further afield, constant fundraisers continue to make the community-owned pub a thriving success.

Amici Cantate is a vibrant choir, well known for its eclectic repertoire spanning musical genres from early music, through classical choral works, to contemporary and African music.

The programme will feature a broad range of music suitable for a Summer evening from The Beatles to Finzi, spirituals to madrigals.

This month is the 50th anniversary of the release of the “Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” album and in recognition of this musical milestone Amici will be performing a Beatles Medley.

The concert will be directed by John Tripp and accompanied by Charlie Penn, on Piano and Graham Instrall playing percussion.

The event will kick-off at 6pm on Saturday.
