Plans are in place to turn an Indian restaurant in Earls Colne into a home after a quarter of a century in business.
Habibur Rashid, who has ran Earls Colne Tandoori for the past 25 years, has applied to Braintree Council for the building, in the High Street, to be turned into a residential property after shutting down the business last month.
A design and access statement, prepared by Oswick Ltd, stated: “Earls Colne High Street has a number of restaurants and take-away food establishments in the upper part of the High Street and Earls Colne also has a similar cuisine style restaurant near the river, so a loss of community resource within the village, in this particular case, would be negligible.”
The application only concerns the ground floor as the first floor already has permission to be a residential property.
