Sports projects for children are under threat because the charity service that runs it is closing.

Crime reduction charity Nacro runs free football tournaments in Halstead as part of its Braintree Community Sports Project.

But the project is folding at the end of the month, which will mean Nacro’s share of the funding will also go.

Sarah Jamieson, who helps run the Halstead sessions, hopes businesses can help sponsor them to keep them running.

Call her on 07827 922404 if you can help.

A Nacro spokesman said: "Nacro is committed to providing effective services in this area that will reduce crime and reoffending, and we are currently looking at funding streams to ensure that this will continue.

“We will do all we can to support those currently using the service and where possible divert them to another appropriate scheme.”
