Almost 150 victims of crime in Braintree have been able to track police progress into their case online.

The new information was added to the police.uk crime maps at the beginning of June and anyone can visit the site to see how offences have been dealt with.

Figures for April show 145 outcomes within a one mile radius of Braintree town centre, including 15 suspects being charged, 15 cautions, six cautions and three offenders being jailed.

Other outcomes included fines, a conditional discharge, community orders.

Forty cases were dropped and 57 are still under investigation.

The website does not include any personal details and simply states which month the offence took place in, the nearest street name and what stage the investigation is at.
