A hunt due to take place this morning was cancelled due to frozen conditions.
The East Essex Hunt, which can attract about 70 people to its meets, cancelled the event at Dyne's Hall, Great Maplestead, as the ground was too icy for horses to ride on.
Its Boxing Day drag hunt in Sible Hedingham took place on foot, for the same reason, but joint huntmaster David King said there was not enough interest to make the Dyne's Hall event worthwhile.
