The disabled wife of a man who egged a charity chief over a respite home closure welcomed the news it may not shut.

The MS Society delayed the closure of their Leuchie House respite care centre by six months after the current manager Mairi O’Keefe entered a proposal to take over the home.

Chris Carton, 65, of Earls Colne, egged David McNiven, director of the Scottish Multiple Sclerosis Society, during a row at the beginning of November about the closure of the home.

Mr Carton and his 61-year-old wife Linda, who has progressive MS, regularly holiday at the home near North Berwick in Scotland which is close to where their grandchildren live.

Speaking about the six month reprieve Mrs Carton said: “I really do hope it will stay open because it is so nessecary." See this week's Halstead Gazette for the full story
