Residents are deciding how best to spend £100,000 on their area.
Greenfields Community Housing has given the cash to the Halstead Area Forum to improve aspects of the town and the surrounding villages.
The forum has received 52 suggestions from residents and is now looking into which of those could be viable projects.
Forum chairman David Sharp of Holmes Road, Halstead, said: “We’re very pleased with the number of suggestions.
“The largest number of ideas relates to parking, roads and traffic in one way or another."
