A “brutal” rascist attack has left a woman with damaged teeth and black eyes.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the racially aggravated assault which happened at about 10.30pm on August 1.
Six young men approached a man and woman on the bridge in Bridge Street, Halstead.
The men shouted racist abuse at the couple, who are of Romanian origin, and then punched and kicked them.
The 30-year-old woman was left with bruising and grazing all over her body, three cracked teeth, damage to another tooth, two black eyes and a bruised nose.
Inspector Neil Murray: “This was a brutal and unprovoked racist assault."
Police are appealing for anyone who saw this crime or has information about the people responsible to contact officers at Halstead on 0300 3334444, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
