A chocolate box village is the second best in the county.
Finchingfield came runner-up in the Essex Village of the Year Competition, organised by the Rural Community Council of Essex (RCCE).
The announcement was made at the council’s annual general meeting on Wednesday July 7, with Great Waltham near Chelmsford walking off with the top prize.
Kirby-le-Soken near Frinton took third place.
