THOUSANDS of pounds worth of funding has been donated to nine charities across the Braintree district.
Eastlight Community Homes’s all in alliance groups for Braintree, Witham, and Halstead, aim to work with residents and support important community projects.
Nine shortlisted charities pitched to the residents in effort to receive their votes and the winners received shares of a £9,000 funding pot provided by Eastlight Community Homes.
Hope House Essex, in Braintree, is a homeless charity that provides support for people facing homelessness by providing temporary supported accommodation.
Its run by a group of volunteer trustees and the organisation has received £1,250 to help pay for weekly community meals offered to those in need.
Braintree organisation, Happy Hill, provides one to one support for young people aged 3 to 25 with complex needs.
The charity has received £875 to support their one-to-one support workers.
The Braintree East Pride in our Patch community group has also received £875 to fund a trolley and gardening equipment to maintain pathways and community spaces in the town.
Witham’s SP healthcare received £1,250 to fund new adaptive and sensory fitness equipment for their fitness and healthcare sessions for disabled and underprivileged members of the community.
Witham Valley Nursery has been awarded with £1,000 for a protective screening so it can use its outside space all year.
The mental health charity, Heads2Minds, was given £750 in effort to continue its sessions on neurodiversity and addiction.
Halstead’s Sunnydays Baby and Toddler Group were voted to receive £1,250 to cover the cost of insurance and first aid training for their volunteers.
Frederick Douglas Performing Arts, a family-run theatre school was granted £1,000 for new soft mats and tap boards, allowing the school to introduce more styles of learning.
Finally, the non-profit charity Earls Colne Millennium Green will receive £750 to provide a new gate to make its open space more accessible for residents.
Lauren Brimson, Eastlight’s Community empowerment co-ordinator, said: “It’s a great joy to see residents supporting nine organisations with our community grants.
“Being able to support these groups is very important to us and we’re delighted that the grants will help them to continue their much-needed work.”
