MORE than 100 transport exhibits will be on display as an annual ‘extravaganza’ returns.

Over the May bank holiday weekend, the East Anglian Railway Museum in Wakes Colne will be staging its annual Transport Extravaganza.

For 2023 the event has also been combined with the museum’s annual Home Fleet Steam Gala.

There will be more than 120 transport themed exhibits, ranging from classic cars and vintage motorbikes to kit cars, military vehicles and some rare modern items.

All the museum’s available steam locomotives will be in operation too, with unlimited rides from 10.30am until 4pm.

Included in the admission charge is a 35-minute round trip to Bures railway station aboard a vintage bus.

The museum’s miniature railway will be running giving unlimited rides and the Braintree and Halstead Model Railway Club will have their club rooms open, with a large number of layouts on display.

Visitors can also visit the working restoration shed, Victorian goods shed, period waiting rooms and signal box, as well as the heritage centre and train themed children’s playground.

The museum’s own micro pub, The Viaduct, will also be open from 11am selling draught beer from Colchester Brewery, as well as a range of bottled beers, ciders, spirits and soft drinks.
