An inquest into the death of a Halstead factory worker has opened.

Martyn Hartnell, 44, was killed in an accident involving a forklift truck at the Hand 2 Mouth factory in Bluebridge Industrial Estate.

The inquest into Mr Hartnell’s death opened at Chelmsford Coroner’s Court last Thursday.

Essex Coroner’s Service said the cause of death will be announced at the conclusion of a full inquest on Monday, March 11.

Essex Police is continuing its investigation into the tragedy, which happened on the morning of Monday, July 30.

Hand 2 Mouth and the Health and Safety Executive are also assisting enquiries.

The Hand 2 Mouth factory was closed for two days following the incident as a mark of respect.

Plans are in place to stage a memorial event in Mr Hartnell’s honour and an announcement is expected in the coming weeks.

Co-founder Praveen Vijh led the tributes to Mr Hartnell last week.

He added: “All of us are deeply affected by the death of Martyn Hartnell. We are all heartbroken and send much love to his family.”
