A VINEYARD has taken the top prize at an awards event for one of its wines.
Toppesfield Vineyard, run by Jane and Peter Moore, won the award for its Bacchus Reserve 2016.
It was given the gong at the 12th Sommelier Wine Awards which is Britain's only awards focusing on wines for the on-trade.
Jane Moore, said: "We are absolutely thrilled to have won this gold award, particularly for our second year of commercial production.
"This wine has already won a number of awards, with the SWA providing further recognition and kudos.
"At Toppesfield, we are absolutely committed to producing excellent quality wines."
Judges thought Toppesfield Bacchus stood out because of its elegance and described elderflower notes with light nuances of gooseberry and greengage.
The awards encourage producers to enter who want to sell more wines to UK hotels, restaurants, pubs and bars.
"From the outset, we were determined to provide our vines with the best possible growing conditions and winning awards such as this one provides real endorsement of the hard work invested to date in Toppesfield Vineyard."
