Here are stroies behind why four runners from across Maldon and the Dengie are taking part in the London Marthon in April
- Tom Morris is running for blood cancer charity Leukaemia Care.
Tom, 23, of Tillingham Road, Asheldam, is hoping to raise £2,500.
He said: “I have a friend who was helped by a charity with a similar role to the charity I’m running for so I think it’s a very worthwhile cause.”

- Lee Phillippo is taking on the race for the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity.
Lee, 31, of Catchpole Lane, Great Totham, is running in memory of his mum Lesley and his wife Kayleigh’s nan Irene, who both died of cancer.

- Anthony Burrell will be running the marathon for Barnardo’s.
Mr Burrell, 46, of Chichester Way, Maldon, will be taking on his first 26- mile race.
He said: “Barnardo’s is close to my heart as I was adopted and a Barnardo’s baby – and I have even worked in the Maldon High Street Barnardo’s shop when I was put on gardening leave from a previous job.”

- Friends Davinia Wynne and Joanne Holden will be taking on the marathon to raise money for Farleigh Hospice.
Davinia, 40, of The Street, Hatfield Peverel, and Joanne, 46, of Poulton Close, Maldon, are hoping to raise £2,000 for the charity.
