Maldon District Council has announced there will be no waste collections for the rest of the week due to the snow. 

The council announced on Wednesday there would be no collections as a result of poor weather conditions.

Today, Thursday, March 1, the council announced all refuse, recycling and garden waste collections had been suspended due to "deteriorating weather conditions". 

Collections of garden waste have also been suspended until Monday, March 12 to enable waste crews to catch up.

A message on their website said: "Refuse, recycling and garden waste collections have been suspended for the rest of this week.

"An amended collection schedule for next week will be published shortly."

Refuse and recycling collections have been rescheduled for next week  when household refuse, recycling and food waste will all be collected on one day.

Residents are asked to put their waste out on the new date.

  • Collections due to take place tomorrow, Friday, March 2, will now been collected on Monday, March 5
  • Collections scheduled for Tuesday, February 27, will be collected on Tuesday, March 6
  • Collections scheduled for Wednesday, February 28, will be collected on Wednesday, March 7
  • Collections for today, Thursday, March 1, will be collected on Thursday, March 8

A spokesman for the council said: “Waste crews will collect a reasonable amount of additional refuse for residents whose wheeled bin collection has been delayed.

“Please present up two additional black bags with your wheeled bin on the new collection day.

“All collections will return to the normal timetable after March 9.

“Residents are asked not to leave their waste out over the weekend owing to strong winds.”
