Firefighters, police officers and paramedics are set to face it off against each other all in aid of charity.

Staff at the East of England Ambulance Service, Essex Police and Essex County Fire and Rescue are taking part in a three team football tournament to raise funds for Farleigh’s Hospice.

Each team will play two matches before the top two will play a final to determine the winner.

The tournament has been organised by Halstead resident, Tarik Foley, who works on the critical care desk in the East of England Ambulance Service’s control room.

He chose to raise funds for Farleigh Hospice after the hospice helped his nan.

He said: “In February last year my amazing nan, spent her last few weeks in their care. They were amazing in every sense of the word and I don’t think my family and I would have been able to cope without them.”

Mr Foley added: “I’m doing a marathon for the hospice this year but I wanted to boost my fundraising by organising something different.

“Rather than keep asking people for money they can come along to the tournament and join in the fun.

“There has been a lot of interest from everyone here at the ambulance service.

“I think the chief inspector for police is going to be managing their team so it should be a great day.”

The event will take place at Halstead Town football club, in Rosemary Lane, on Sunday, April 8 from 11am.

Food stalls and a raffle will also be available throughout the day.
